Tips to road trips with kids / Trucos para viajar con niños en la carretera

Travelling is one of The things we love most and We do it as often as We can. As parents, we believe that travelling provides the best cultural stimulus that we can give our daughter and that is an important part of her education.

The other day I told you our tips to pack when travelling with kids, (you can read it here)but today I would like to tell you our experience on road trips.

With a toddler, every little detail needs to be planned and thought so we always do our route before and plan our stops.

For example from Valencia to Oporto we have a nine-hour round trip and its important to plan your timetable. We normally do the first part of our trip around Luisas nap more or less 3 hours and then we have prepared our backup plan in case she wakes up early and needs to be distracted.

We use our iPad with her favourite cartoons to distract her and we always have a Spotify playlist ready with her favourites songs.

When packing we leave always next to us a bottle of water and easy to eat snacks, that can really help when they are stressed out and its always our B plan. Also, we keep a blanket because AC can be stronger

Driving so long can be boring and thats why we try to do as many breaks as we can without taking too long to the final destination. When we stop, we try to find a playground or a place to play with Luisa and do some exercise. Changing nappy or going for an ice team is always a good reason to stop.

For us choosing the right child seat was something that took long because we wanted a seat that we could use since she was little until now.

We chose the Takata midi Isize plus seat, because of many things:

It has Isofix system

You can use it forward and rear facing position

The fabric used is toxin-tested microfiber

Extra pads in case of a side collision

Complete magnetic 5-point harness system for easier everyday use

We are very happy with our choice and I recommend this child seat to all the parents who ask me.

Sometimes is a bit too much do it on the same day all our route so we try to find nice hotels or bed and breakfasts on our way and slip it in one or two parts and then make it cooler seeing new places discovering new restaurants and places.

Luisa is a really good partner on our trips she is used to doing it since she was 4 months and she loves a good road trip, she sleeps more than half the time! She is so fast falling asleep that sometimes I envy her!

And you do you have special tips or tricks to make it easy with kids?

debido a muchas cosas:

As a mom, I am always looking for ways to nourish her possibilities and help inspire my daughter to dream big. I always tell her she can grow up to be anything she wants, if she has a passion for it and is determined, she will achieve all of her dreams. Can you imagine the world without music? I cant! Music creates memories and feelings and we start to listen to music when we are inside of our mommys belly. I often ask myself if I give Luisa enough musical stimulation because me and my husband we are really bad with rhythm and singing. Studies say that early musical stimulation improves the learning of new languages as they see music as a languag ...

I was mind blown last year after finding out that 1 in 5 children here in the USA live in homes without adequate food. On top of that, 10 m ...
