Read Around the World Summer Series: Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones

Read Snuggle up sleepy ones.

This post is my contribution to the Read Around the World Summer Series hosted by Multicultural Kid Blogs.

Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones is a perfect book to read before bedtime. The beautiful illustrations by Tina Macnaughton transport us to the African savannah to show us how different animals get ready for the night. One detail that I particularly like is how the colors of the sky are changing on each page as the sun is setting.

The text by Claire Freedman is short and simple, just a few sentences on each page with a rhyme and rhythm that delights children (and grown-ups) and invites us to relax, cuddle and get ready for bed like the animals in the book.

The edition we have at home includes a CD with narration of the story accompanied by nature sounds that help set the mood, and also a lullaby version of the story, perfect for the little ones.

If you want to take a look, on this YouTube video you can see and listen to the story:
