Paseos de naturaleza: Nuestro kit – Nature walks: Our kit

Kit de campo - Nature kit

(scroll down for English)

————–

As you know we love nature walks, but the fact is that until recently we did not carry any special gear, and sometimes we missed to have on hand some of the things which I will tell you about, so I decided prepare this kit to have it all together and ready to go without having to search around the house where everything is.

We do not always use everything in the bag, but comes in handy to carry it just in case!

Notebook and pen: To draw animals plants or anything else that we see.
Box with compartments: To keep stones, shells, leaves, feathers, pinecones and other things for our nature display. Much better than overflowing pockets!
Crayons: In case we want our drawings in color. This box also incorporates sharpener, which comes in handy!
Mini-Microscope: To observe the details of leaves, soil, tree trunks … Ours is X60 and was really cheap on Amazon.
Nature guides: To find information on animals and plants we find, to identify species … The “Pocket Guide for Nature Lovers” by Editorial Blume is from when Daddy was a student and is a bit advanced for Alejandro, but we use it ourselves, and the “Guía de Campo” published by SM is more suitable for children, has a lot of fun facts and ideas to observe nature and the images are real and very striking, and in addition it is plasticized and It closes with a zipper, a very cool idea to protect it!
Camera: To capture the beautiful landscape images, details of the nature or the scouts! I recommend you skip children cameras (they are expensive, take up much space and the pictures are usually of very low quality) and buy a simple and affordable compact digital camera. Alejandro’s camera is a Vivitar and he is doing well with it.
Bug jar with magnifying glass: To observe insects, worms, snails… the truth is that we have not put any bugs in the jar yet, we’ve observed them with the magnifying glass out, but does not hurt to have it handy. There are several types of bug jars, ours is from Safari LTD.
Binoculars: To watch birds or anything that is a bit far! Ours are from Decathlon.
Compass: To identify the cardinal points and get our bearings.
Backpack with several pockets and compartments: The one you see in the image works very well for us because it is small and has many compartments, everything I just told you fits well, but there is nots much spare room, so if you want to add something more to your kit you wil maybe need a bigger backpack.
Would you add anything else? What do you carry when you go on a nature walk? Tell me in the comments!

(scroll down for English) Me encanta la playa en invierno.
