Para los que no lo saben, el dengue es una enfermedad infecciosa causada por el virus del dengue, que es transmitida por mosquitos, principalmente por el Aedes aegypti. La infección se muestra con síntomas de gripa, y algunas veces puede llegar a convertirse en una enfermedad mortal conocida como dengue grave o dengue hemorrágico.
La prevención y el control del dengue dependen exclusivamente de las medidas eficaces de lucha contra el mosquito transmisor. Para esto, debemos tener en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones que buscan orientarles sobre cómo realizar control larvario entendido como todas aquellas actividades dirigidas a identificar, controlar y/o eliminar cualquier depósito en donde se desarrollen o puedan desarrollarse larvas de cualquier tipo de mosquito:
Identificar los criaderos que comprenden recipientes naturales o artificiales en los que se deposita por largo tiempo agua limpia: tanques, floreros de cementerio, macetas.
Limpiar patios y techos de cualquier potencial criadero de larvas.
Para los tanques se recomienda agregar pequeñas cantidades de cloro sobre el nivel del agua.
Evitar la acumulación de agua en neumáticos. Si se presenta, se debe vaciar el contenido. Se puede colocar arena para evitar la acumulación de líquido.
Utilizar de barreras físicas como mosquiteros o toldillos en ventanas.
Utilizar repelente de insectos.
Promover conductas preventivas dentro de la población.
Favorecer el aislamiento de las personas afectadas evitando el contacto con los mosquitos hasta que ceda la fiebre.
Tomemos conciencia de que esta es una enfermedad que puede llegar a cualquier persona, sin importar su estatus ni clase social. Mr. Dengue puede atacar en cualquier momento si no tomas las medidas necesarias para evitarlo.
