So we are just around the corner of the most hectic time of the year for us parents – back-to-school season! Not sure if I should be excited to finally send off my little one into 1st grade or cringe at the thought of how busy I will be trying to get after-school snacks, homework and dinner ready before 6 p.m. Luckily, this year I decided to purchase a planner and since I always have it on hand, I’ve been penciling in a few ideas into it. One favorite snack around here is homemade Pizza Pockets, this easy recipe will keep everyone full while dinner is being prepared.
While shopping at my neighborhood Walmart for school supplies I decided to start stocking up on some items that will be of great help during those hectic first few days of school. Growing up I remember my mom leaving Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup ready for us to eat after school. So I decided to get creative and use different Campbell items and take advantage of the coupons being offered on the Walmart website for items I know I will be using this back to school season.
Check out the savings on Prego Italian Sauce
Prego Italian Sauce is one my whole family loves because of its homemade taste, with its different flavors I can make any dish taste amazing as each provides a balance of sweet and savory Italian flavor. This is the one sauce I always go to whether it be spaghetti or pizza. In this case, we will be using Prego Traditional sauce to make these pizza pockets, but as you can see in the store image I found a variety of flavors, I’m sure you will find one your family loves.
To prepare this easy snack you will only need a few ingredients: Prego Italian Sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni (or your favorite toppings), and one crescent roll can.
Start by pre-heating the oven to 350 degrees. Pop open your crescent roll package and unroll the dough on a cookie sheet and separate into 4 rectangles, then pinch together the perforations that run through the dough. Spread on about a tablespoon of Prego Italian sauce on half of the rectangle, followed by 2 tablespoons of mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices and any other toppings you’d like. Fold and firmly press the edges to seal. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
