What will native English speakers think about my experience? Fears and doubts

The first few times I thought about having children and speaking to them in English, I had the main ideas clear and very few doubts. It seemed to me that it made sense, that it was interesting and that, just as I talk to my students or to other people in English, I would do it with my son. All the questions and doubts came when I started. I had my son in my arms and I was going to start speaking t ...

Talking to my child in front of people who speak English vs. people who do not speak English

This Christmas we have been traveling around the North and East of Switzerland. How beautiful everything was! And how cold! One of the days we visited Zurich and we used the opportunity to meet some Swiss friends who live there. We had a great time. It always feels good to spend some time chatting with people with whom you share things. In addition, we introduced our son to them, as they didnt kno ...

Toilet Training: Increasing Confidence with Cottonelle Flushable Wipes

Transitiniong my daughter from her cute pink potty to grown-up potty was not too fun or easy for her, she had grown to love her small potty and didn’t feel the need to transition to a grown up potty, or as we call it the toilet. The hardest part of the transition was getting her to clean herself with toilet paper instead of baby wipes she used. Thankfully I was able to convince her the toile ...

Embarrassed talking in front of native speakers? Knock, knock!

I have already written about my feelings when speaking to my son in English in front of native speakers. As I imagined, there would be more situations where I would find myself with English speakers for various reasons. Well, I havent had to wait a long time for a new moment to come. The other day on the bus, the couple sitting behind were Americans. I was carrying my little one in the baby carrie ...

Exploring the Natural Pet World at Kriser’s

Recently we got the opportunity to visit Kriser’s Natural Pet, as a pet owner, I am somewhat disappointed to have never even known about Kriser’s or how close it is to my neighborhood. I’ve always had pets in my home since I was a child so I was very excited to explore this new place. I really wanted to take our 5-month-old German Shepherd, Eliza out for an adventure but she tend ...

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 – Best way to pick your ‘Padrinos’ and ‘Madrinas’

With the upcoming release of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 on March 25, we started thinking about family, traditions and wedding! Weddings are always fun and sentimental, but nonetheless a PARTY!! Just like the Portokalos family, we Hispanics like to get down when it comes to weddings or any family celebration and one tradition we have is madrinas and padrinos. To celebrate the release of My Big Fat ...
